Strictly Rhythm ist ein Label im Bereich der Housemusik. Das Logo mit dem Backstein-Hintergrund wurde von Gründer Mark Finkelstein entworfen. George Morel, produzierte unter dem Alias Sir James 1989 die dritte Strictly Rhythm-Maxi. „Special“. Diese gilt als eine der meist-gesampleten House-Platten. Der erste Club-Hit von Strictly Rhythm „The Warning“ von Logic aus dem Jahr 1990, einem Projekt, an dem auch Roger Sanchez beteiligt war. Mitte der 90er war Strictly Rhythm international das führende Label in Sachen House. Mehrere Platten erlangten Platzierungen es in die Charts, wie zum Beispiel „I Like To Move It“ von Reel 2 Real. Insgesamt erschienen fünf Reel 2 Real-Stücke in der Top 30 unter, sein Album bekam die Goldene Schallplatte. Auch bekannt ist der Track „Higher State of Consciousness“ von Josh Wink. Den Höhepunkt seines Erfolgs erreichte Strictly Rhythm schließlich 1997 mit Ultra Natés Song „Free“, später erschienen die Hits „Found a Cure“ oder „New Kind of Medicine“. Strictly Rhythm feierte besonders in England große Erfolge. Mit „King of my Castle“ von Wamdue Project konnte man 1999 erstmals Platz eins der UK-Charts erobern. Warner Music kaufte die Mehrheit und wollte erreichen, dass das Label wie ein Major arbeitete. Die beiden Geschäftsmodelle passten anscheinend nicht zusammen, da Warner den Betrieb des Labels 2002 einstellte. Ende 2006 wurde der Betrieb des Labels durch eine befreundete Unterstützung mit dem erfolgreichem britischen Label Defected Records durch die Gründer Mark Finkelstein und Gladys Pizzaro wieder aufgenommen.

Strictly Rhythm is an American record label, best known for its highly regarded house-music catalogue. It is considered by many to be one of the genre's most important and influential labels. Strictly Rhythm Records is house music. Since 1989 the legendary New York label not only put out records by almost every name in the game, but it also defined house music throughout the 1990s with Erick Morillo, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Armand Van Helden, DJ Pierre, Roger Sanchez, Josh Wink, Ultra Naté and Barbara Tucker. As well as keeping the underground stoked with a steady supply of club grooves, the label also delivered a stream of crossover hits with Reel 2 Real’s “I Like To Move It”, Ultra Naté’s “Free”, Wamdue Project’s “King Of My Castle” and Wink’s “Higher State Of Consciousness”. Relaunched in 2007 after a five year break following a short-lived venture with Warner Music, Strictly Rhythm did what no dance label had ever done: successfully re-launch itself. The label made many of its classic releases available on digital download for the first time and signed new productionsfrom the likes of Quentin Harris, Osunlade, Bingo Players Vs Chocolate Puma, Dennis Ferrer, Michel Cleis, Dirty South and Bob Sinclar. Three years later and now fully re-established, Strictly Rhythm opened a new London office in November 2010. Still an innovator, the label that invented the 12” white label and put out the first ever commercially released DJ Mix CD in 1993 (The Tony Humphries Strictly Rhythm Mix) is now enabling both new and established talent through its joint venture label set-up, the Strictly Rhythm Music Group. The Strictly Rhythm Music Group currently has 20 labels with partners in the US, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia and Ireland. Recent signings include Tristan Garner (Xtra Life), Doman & Gooding (Superficial), Jupiter Ace (Big Vision) and Richard Grey (Superficial). Strictly Rhythm has offices in New York, London, Rome and Berlin.
